Strategy notes: read these before the passage
- Editorial leads pack the whole argument into the last sentence. Read the closing analogy first, then check how the earlier sentences build to it.
- Quotation marks around 「自主的」 and 「成果」 signal irony: the writer does not accept these labels at face value.
- The 逆説 sentence states a paradox; expect a question asking you to restate it in plain terms.
Passage
「働き方改革」が叫ばれて久しい。残業時間は統計上、確かに減った。だが、減ったのは「記録される残業」であって、仕事そのものではない。持ち帰り、始業前の「自主的」な準備、昼休みに返信されるメール——これらは帳簿の外に追いやられただけである。数字が改善するたびに現場が疲弊するという逆説を、政策の設計者はどう説明するのか。
改革が測るべきは労働時間の長さではなく、労働が人の生活を侵食する度合いである。それを測る指標を持たないまま「成果」を誇るのは、体温計を捨てて熱が下がったと言うに等しい。
